Creatures

Nice work taking charge of the Creatures page! About time someone did. --Retro 16:06, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! --dUMBELLS 22:22, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Something like this format was discussed "once upon a time" (see MainPage talk, esp the bottom part, or all of it if you can't sleep), but never went anywhere. See Example - some fish for one idea.--Albedo 20:33, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

I like the idea of having the game object data included, and I'll consider changing the format. --dUMBELLS 22:22, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

This is awesome! --Ral 21:04, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Linking to Categories

Just a helpful note: when you want to create a link to a category page, like: This is the vermin category page just put a ':' in the like like so: [[:Category:Vermin|This is the vermin category page]]. When you're making a link to another category, or making one category a subcategory of another, you don't want to use any of the templates or it will cause issues with double namespace tags, or incorrect namespace tags. If you're just adding a page to a category use {{Category|"your category goes here"}} Which will add the page to the properly namespaced category, adding a link to the bottom of the page. Hope this helps! :) --Soy(T-C) 19:27, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I was confused with how to deal with it, thanks for the advice. --dUMBELLS 19:54, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Preview

There's a "Show Preview" button - you are encouraged to use it instead of spamming the Recent Changes page with dozens of consecutive edits to your user page. --Quietust 23:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't notice I was spamming the Recent Changes page to that extent. I'll try and submit more complete edits; I've also marked my future edits to (on default) be minor, so you can filter them out if they're too much. --dUMBELLS 23:20, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
I recommend the "Show Preview" button anyway. You do a lot of little edits on the same page... but save the page after each little edit. --Met 00:30, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Check Mark and Cross

Your check mark and cross are far too large... and distracting. I think something smaller would fulfill the function you want and look good. Image Link --Met 01:07, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

That's perfect, I'll try and implement those asap.--dUMBELLS 02:27, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Pet values - as bar

Maybe use sqrt(PET_VALUE) for length of bar? 213.134.175.225 10:06, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

That makes much more sense, I'll update it. Thanks. --dUMBELLS 21:52, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Raw Overload

There's something which I think needs to be made clear - loading information from the raws is resource-intensive, so the only thing you'll accomplish by loading dozens of raw files in a single template is to overload and possibly crash the wiki (in fact, Kaos's attempts to add skin colors to the Creatures page did just this, creating a page that could not be rendered because the wiki ran out of CPU time for a single page load). If you observe the various pages where raws are parsed, you will notice that they involve loading lots of things from one single raw object (e.g. one creature, one stone type, one tree, one plant) and/or assorted properties of all [matching] objects from a single raw file [in order] (e.g. the name of every stone that has a [ENVIRONMENT:SEDIMENTARY:*:*] token); trying to do both (loading lots of information from lots of objects) just isn't feasible as long as we're using MediaWiki, since you'll very quickly run into a hard limit on the number of templates (and parser functions) that can be inserted into a single page (even when I tried implementing Kaos's creature color display on a local mirror using my DF raw parser, displaying colors for more than a dozen creatures caused half of the creatures to be replaced with broken links to {{CreatureCurrent table row}}). --Quietust 23:14, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Gigantic panda

Given that the raws for "PANDA, GIGANTIC" include the tag "[GRAZER:92]", how exactly did you come to the conclusion that they don't need to graze? --Quietust 15:14, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

It was based on the [CV_REMOVE_TAG:GRAZER] tag at the start of the raws. I didn't have time to read the raws thoroughly. My mistake. --dUMBELLS 16:25, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
