v0.34:Magic
Revision as of 21:01, 1 August 2012 by 66.255.193.3 (talk) (Undo revision 176309 by 66.255.193.3 (talk))
This article is about an older version of DF. |
This page needs improving: References to discrete versions, old or new versions, old or new systems, and changes between versions should not be used (Rule T) in articles about features in the game. Versions that are explicitly mentioned should instead use the version template. Text that references changes should simply be removed, unless it is necessary to continue supporting users of an older version in the same namespace. New versions or systems should simply be stated as if they were always there, and old versions or systems should not be mentioned. Read more on the Community portal. |
Magic exists in a limited form in Dwarf Fortress, being the main addition of DF2012. It is one of the many additions of the interaction system. The only way it shows up currently is in the form of necromancers, but with luck, it shall soon appear in other places as well.
Necromancy is obtained in Adventurer mode by reading a tome of Life and Death, traditionally obtained via Necromancer Towers which show up as purple 'I's on the world map. Their towers are often packed tightly with undead and usually more than one Necromancer, whom will not hesitate to raise any fresh corpses you make, or even the limbs of their minions that you chop off. But of course, if you can overcome the danger, the power is then yours.
