Apologies
I'm sorry you were offended by my edit, but I'd like to direct you to the note at the bottom of the edit page: "Please note that all contributions to Dwarf Fortress Wiki may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then do not submit it here." ... it's pretty much counter-productive to consider any article on a wiki as "your article". I simply read the talk page for the article, agreed with it, and made the change. "Be bold" is a common wiki rule, here and on other wikis. I will try in the future to communicate such changes to those who may be interested in/involved with an article, and to provide more detail in the edit summary. - Thanks. I recently re-read my response above and realized it was a little more ... stern? than I meant it to be. I think we're on the same page, thanks for the civility and quick response. JubalHarshaw 16:06, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
RE: Prepared Meals
I don't know why you made the claim that you can't set a stockpile for them exclusively.
I always have a stockpile in/near my dining room(s) that accepts only prepared meals, and one that only accepts drinks.
If you meant that you can't have a stockpile that only accepts meals in stacks over 10, well, that seems a bit overmuch asking of the game at the moment.
Either way, it needs clarification.
As for keeping these larger meals from spoiling, they just need to be hauled in a timely manner.
If you don't often have idle haulers, then you need to set a few of them to haul food exclusively, to help ensure that the meals don't sit in the kitchen.
Prepared meals don't spoil any quicker than any other un-barreled food, once in a stockpile, like plants or cheese (both of which will be stored as-is if there are insufficient barrels.)
