v0.34 Talk:Leather
Taboo against sentient creature leather?[edit]
I've observed (but am not entirely certain) that dwarfs will not wear clothing made from the leather of sentient creatures as part of their civilian garb. If they come upon pre-fabricated leather of such creatures, leatherworkers will work with it and it will be stockpiled and traded normally, but civilians will not claim such items.
I first noticed when i made dogs sentient - immigrants wearing dog leather clothes dropped them the moment they entered the map. The sentient-creature (typically animalman) leather loincloths dropped by defunct goblins are also never claimed for wearing. Curiously, this only seems to apply to leather - troll fur clothing is worn without hesitation, while troll leather is shunned. If others can confirm or if there's at least no conclusive contradiction, i'll probably edit this into the article.--Larix (talk) 14:36, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
