Fuel needed without magma
I can't verify it at the moment, but did this change in the new version? I'm pretty sure it was like this in 40d:
smelting 2 iron bars: | 2 fuel (2 jobs) |
smelting 1 pig iron bar: | 1 fuel (1 job) |
smelting 2 steel bars: | 1 fuel (1 job) |
total: | 4 fuel |
Yea it's still like this.
- You need another coke to carbonize the iron into pig iron. Then you need another coke to make the steel, even though you should actually be removing carbon from the pig iron in that step. So I think without magma you need a total of 6 fuel. Agree? If so, correct the article.
—0x517A5D 00:12, 24 April 2010 (UTC)- I thought the coke used to carbonize is used as fuel as well as an ingredient. AKAfreaky 00:16, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
- That was only true in 0.27-0.28 (i.e. 32a thru 40d) - in 0.31 (and also in 0.23 and earlier), making pig iron and steel at a non-magma smelter requires two units of coke/charcoal, since the fuel is not used as part of the reaction. --Quietust 01:18, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
