Rope reeds are the only surface crop usable for the production of cloth. They also make a passable drink when brewed into river spirits. You may be able to collect them by gathering plants and you might also be able to trade in plants or seeds from an elven caravan.
To produce rope reed cloth, you must first use the process plants job at a farmer's workshop to spin the plant fibers into thread, which will also produce rope reed seeds for replanting. Once you have spun the thread, it can then be woven into cloth at a loom by anyone with the weaving profession.
