Editing DF2014 Talk:Monarch

I just had a king appear in my fort with a migrant wave that brought me from 13 dwarves to 24.  I haven't discovered adamantine, have only traded a few rough gems (appraiser said they were worth less than 200 total), haven't made ANY offerings to caravans, haven't smelted a single bar worth of ore, and the only craft I made was an artifact my jeweler made while possessed. this page should mention somewhere that the liaison comes along with the monarch. <br>

== Dead Civ ==
I think it should be added what happens if you embark with all other sites of your civilization being gone. Happened to me as well (my weaponsmith ;-;). The highest positioned dwarf in the civ atm was a baroness afaik, but I'm not sure if I checked it properly. --[[User:Abkaal|Abkaal]] ([[User talk:Abkaal|talk]]) 13:58, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

I had the king arrive after I hit the absolute population cap and he only came with the queen consort and the liason. == Metropolis? ==
I only have a Fortress Rank of City, and yet I am able to see the "Becoming the Capital" tab and check it, and presumably summon the king. Are we absolutely sure the fortress needs to be a Metropolis? I can provide screenshots if requested.

I am confirming, I also saw the "Becoming the capital" screen as rank of city, when I fulfilled it, I received the monarch.

== Requirements ==

The wiki reads "Requirements for a monarch's arrival can be checked by pressing n c after a fortress has reached a certain wealth."
It seems that in v0.47.05 the fortress needs be a duchy for the screen to be available. I have no further evidence vis a vis the metropolis requirement as discussed above.

== Law-Giver ==

I haven't really been up to speed with the intermediate versions, but in the latest one Law-Givers are monarchs in all but name: their position is hereditary, they appoint the other nobles, they're the first in their civilization to either be chosen or to "choose themselves" through force etc. etc. They sure aren't "just" diplomats, though I've mostly been browsing legends and I don't know how they interact in fortress mode. --[[Special:Contributions/135.125.137.236|135.125.137.236]] 20:06, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
