I think the "No outpost liaison? How curious..." message can appear without your civilization going extinct. In my current fort the liaison has been stuck (without going mad for some reason) since the last visit. This autumn the caravan arrived as expected, but the liaison didn't, since he's stuck watching a lungfish next to a brook. 5.150.210.73 23:04, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
