=Reclaiming=

Sometimes, your forts are extinguished. Sometimes, your forts in totally awesome locations are extinguished. Sometimes, you have to go back. Reclaiming a fortress is a method of doing so.

In order to reclaim a fortress site, you must first have a site to reclaim. If you lose a fortress to a tantrum spiral or invasion, you can select the reclaim option by hitting "R".

After doing so, you will be brought to the embark screen, where you can assign skills and items as normal with 300 points to spend.

==What you'll find==

Upon arriving, you will find items from the previous colonization attempt are strewn around the area. All map items and workshops start forbidden, so you must unforbid them if you plan on using them. You may also find the source of your fort's downfall, so be careful about picking things up. If your fort was devastated by a berserk dwarf, they are probably still on the map, ready to ambush your gatherers.

== Reclaiming buildings ==

In order to reclaim a building for your dwarves to use, say a {{L|Smelter}}, you will need to reclaim all of the items that make up that {{L|workshop}}. You can do this two ways. First, you can hit  {{key|t}} and move the cursor over the building, which will show all of the items within the building. This includes the materials used to build it. Just hit  {{key|f}} on each one to reclaim those items. Alternatively, when you are reclaiming items via the Stock screen any items that are part of a building can be reclaimed there as well. However, you won't know which ones those are, so for specific workshops it's easiest if you claim each one separately.

It is also possible to designate multiple items and workshops by using {{key|d}} > {{key|b}} (>{{key|c}} claim is defaulted). This makes it easier to clean up everything and reclaim undisturbed stockpiles.

==Bugs==

*The mud normally found in cave systems is gone on reclaim. This may interfere with your farming and/or wood cutting plans (depending if you rely on the underground forests for wood).

*When reclaiming a lost fortress, soldiers will not use ANY armour or weapons assigned to them, insisting on training and fighting unarmoured and barehanded. This behaviour seems related to the [[arsenal dwarf]] position - when the fortress population becomes high enough and a dwarf is assigned to the position, soldiers will finally use the equipment they have been assigned. It seems that, when reclaiming, the game acts as if you need to have an arsenal dwarf right from the start, despite there not being any way to assign one.
