Training spears, swords and axes are edgeless weapons created at a carpenters workshop. It is thought that when performing a combat drill, or sparring with these weapons, dwarves will not incur as many injuries as when using naked metal. They are, of course, equally harmless in real combat. So make sure that your soldiers have exchanged them for real weapons before sending them into combat.

Training axes made from logs can be used for the woodcutter's skill.
