Unlike in 40d, Mechanics DO create legendary mechanism artifacts when they go into a strange mood in DF2010. My mechanic just created a legendary bauxite mechanism with lignite engravings on it. --Alkyon 07:23, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Uh... they did that in 40d too. I have about 4 in various games I could dig up, most of which ended up being connected to levers in noble death traps to help placate them until i decided to kill them. --Squirrelloid 09:14, 2 April 2010 (UTC
Really? I remember that mechanics were one of the few professions that didn't create artifacts. Upon second look, mechanic was moodable in 40d according to the wiki. --Alkyon 15:12, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

other sources of skill gain

just confirmed with dwarf therapist that dwarves get 30 mechanic exp for loading a cage trap. Building traps, building levers, and linking machinery components probably does as well but should be checked.--99.68.98.63 07:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
