"Death" in other Languages
|
When a creature reaches the end of its life, or experiences an otherwise unfortunate accident, they die. While a common occurrence both in fortress and adventurer mode, death should be nothing troubling to a prepared player.
Overview[edit]
When a citizen dies in fortress mode, you will receive an ominous purple message that Urist McDwarf has been found dead as soon as someone finds the body - in adventure mode, a more explicit cause of death will be given. The actual cause of death may be anything from old age, starvation, drowning, to stumbling upon many of the hostile cavern creatures. Beware! Often, the killer will still be lurking nearby, ready to maim dwarves who come to retrieve the body or items from the dead.
Corpses[edit]
When a creature dies, it leaves behind a corpse, which, if left unburied, will begin to rot over the course of the next month or two. Rotting corpses not only stink horribly, but the sight of death alone makes passing dwarves stress out, in both cases leading to unhappy thoughts. In certain fun scenarios, corpses can even rise from the dead - therefore, it is advised to deal with them as soon as possible, either by butchering (if animal), burial (if dwarven), atom smashing, chucking them into magma or a deep pit, or simply moving them away to a dedicated stockpile where they will (hopefully) not bother anyone.
