This article is about an older version of DF.

Item tokens are the first part in defining the target item in reactions, containing the ITEM_TOKEN and ITEM_SUBTYPE. They determine the most basic form of item, and made more specific by Template:Ls. Most item tokens use NO_SUBTYPE or NONE for subtype unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Limited/Special Use Item Tokens

In several specific locations, the values below can be substituted for the item type and subtype (and be followed directly by the Template:L).

Token Subtypes Valid Uses Description
ANY_CRAFT NONE Template:L [REAGENT] Matches FIGURINE, AMULET, SCEPTER, CROWN, RING, EARRING, or BRACELET.
ANY_RAW_MATERIAL NONE Template:L [REAGENT] Matches POWDER_MISC, BAR, BOULDER, or GLOB.
CRAFTS NONE Template:L [PRODUCT] Produces 1-3 items of type FIGURINE, AMULET, SCEPTER, CROWN, RING, EARRING, or BRACELET.

Related Tokens

These tokens are not Item Tokens at all, but can take the place of them in some circumstances.

Token Subtypes Valid Uses Description
METAL_ORE Metal Template:L [REAGENT] This functions a bit differently from the other tokens. It Seems to call for a stone/boulder (only????) of a material with a [METAL_ORE:<Metal>:<percentage>] token for the metal specified. This token is therefore more specific and seems to fill the role of both the item token and the material token in a reaction reagent. Found in the "(use ore)" versions of smelter reactions.
