MediaWiki talk:Sidebar
Centralized Discussion[edit]
I added this article I just made because I've found people are too often saying they didn't know discussions were happening. I think this (if it serves it's purpose) would be the most useful article we could have on that sidebar. I moved community portal and current events down, but I think honestly they should both be removed. They aren't particularly useful, and while something good should be in those places, that isn't the case currently. I'm posting about centralized discussion on the forums, and hopefully I'll bring more people into the discussions. This page is also listed on centralized discussions. - Cool beans. I'm pulling out community portal and current events from the sidebar. --Briess 16:58, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Masterwork Main page[edit]
I think adding a link to the Masterwork main page for Masterwork-related articles would help, since there isn't currently an easy way to get there. This should work (below the Main Page link):
**{{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE}}|Masterwork|Masterwork:Main Page{{!}}{{int:mainpage-description}} (Masterwork)}}

- Good Idea. Adding it (it may take a while to propagate through all the caching though) --Briess (talk) 16:06, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- I just realized, the main page sidebar is actually cached and only evaluated on application startup. :/ --Briess (talk) 04:15, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- That would explain it. I don't use much caching on my wiki server, so I wouldn't have noticed. --Lethosor (talk) 14:03, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Not today, since my internet at my current location is shitty, but soon, I will try disabling the sidebar cache entirely and see what the performance is like. --Briess (talk) 18:01, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- I managed to do this with JavaScript, which looks like it's working now. --Lethosor (talk) 17:18, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
