FEATURE_ATTACK_GROUP[edit]

These are no longer tagged as animal person: Amphibian man, Antman, Bat man, Cave fish man, Cave swallow man, Olm man, Reptile man, Rodent man, Serpent man

Instead they have some new tags, including 'FEATURE_ATTACK_GROUP' any notion what that mean? --Jan (talk) 22:04, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

...I take it the explanation as it stands in the tag definition ([1]) is not enough? Silverwing235 (talk) 22:14, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I am interested in what makes them special, why they are the only ones tagged like that? so I can figure out whether just remove them from the list of animal people or also add them somewhere else too. --Jan (talk) 22:26, 29 December 2022 (UTC)

.50 updates[edit]

This page is currently out of date for .50. The lists of races of possible subterranean animal people civs is missing a bunch of races that I've seen spawn (maybe that's related to FEATURE_ATTACK_GROUP?), animal people show up in other civs now (I've seen cardinal men in human sieges), and subterranean animal people civs show up in the list of civs on the civ screen now (albeit always as friendly, even if they're inherently hostile).

I would just update this myself but I'm only half-sure about some of these things, and don't want to accidentally add misinfo. If nothing else, this is a note to myself to do some research and get around to fixing this at some point. Desistance (talk) 01:24, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Related to this, Creature#Tribesmen does have an AFAICT complete list of underground animal people that form tribes. Desistance (talk) 02:11, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

I recently removed them. Reasoning is that every creature on this page have the [APPLY_CREATURE_VARIATION:ANIMAL_PERSON] except those, though it might have been premature as upon second look that have been the case in previous version as well.
Quick notes: The removed subterranean animal people are uniquely tagged as [FEATURE_ATTACK_GROUP], and all subterranean creature_man are uniqly in that they form a [ENTITY:SUBTERRANEAN_ANIMAL_PEOPLES]. I believe lore wise they suppose to be 'tribes' but I am unclear what gameplay affect these tags have in v50 compared to other subterranean creatures like "stupid" Troglodyte. Also even if animal people are shown as 'Intelligent Wilderness Creature' they do not have the [INTELLIGENT] in raws.
Your observation seem more current then mine, enjoy the research and revert\update the entry as neccessary.--Jan (talk) 09:58, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

I noticed that all of the articles relating to the subterranean animal people contained outdated information. I also noticed that they didn't seem very consistent with one another, so I decided to change that accordingly. --Urist Mchateselves (talk) 2:45, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Mountable Animal People?[edit]

"MOUNT" is only removed from creatures with legs. Therefore, if an animal person is made from Mount without legs, it will be mount itself. Is there such animal people - or, at least, creatures what would qualify for that (a mount without legs)? --109.62.219.200 15:10, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Should subterranean animal people be given their own page?[edit]

Since the subterranean animal people all possess similar behavior and attributes, save for a few differences, wouldn't it be better to give these tribes as a whole their own wiki page, to avoid repetition? The general attributes shared between all of them, as well as the attributes of their civilization would feature in that page, while the individual pages for each of their species would mostly contain information relevant to that species in particular (and would contain a link to the cave people page). Let me know if you think this is a good idea. --Urist Mchateselves (talk) 12:43, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Taxonomy[edit]

It started out, I just wanted all the cat people together and all the lizard people. Now I'm not sure how many lizard people there are. Iguana men and Chameleon men are apparently a lot more related to Serpent men than they are to Gecko men. Perhaps the modern taxonomy is a bit anachronistic. It should be a taxonomy that's more logical to a scientist from AD 200 rather than AD 2000. All legged reptile men together. All legless reptile men together.
