Talk:Diplomat

Outdated?[edit]

"Diplomats from other civilizations tend to arrive on the map edge up to a week before or after their civilization's caravan, once your fortress has a baron"

I don't recall that to be the case even in DF2014, didn't diplomats travel with caravan upon first contact? --Jan (talk) 23:36, 21 December 2022 (UTC)

Observed in v50[edit]

Already-present dwarves can be appointed to diplomat (not by player action), and diplomats don't require tombs (at least not when appointed while already present). Apologies, I'm new to editing wikis outside of correcting an occasional typo. Should I post screenshots of the appointment and room requirements somewhere? - K-wing 13 February 2023

Human diplomat and human treasurer[edit]

Are human diplomats and human treasurer actually ever sighted at a player fortress in the current version? I do get notifications that a human diplomat has arrived, but only the escort unit is actually created (or loaded), allthough the unit will be stuck at the map edge. The human treasurer will always either end up in a goblin army (or better the nemesis record of the treasurer will be added to the army) or the human treasurer will end up at a goblin site both with version 53.14 (and earlier v53 versions). The same happens basically for the human diplomat. And oddly enough human diplomats and human treasurers can all end up being added to the same army. The elven diplomat on the other hand does not have any problem at all to arrive.

ps. The diplomat and treasurer are actually "teleported" to the goblin site or goblin army as the tick before the announcement is made (or better the corresponding timed event is triggered) the history figure will still be a settler at a site (if he/she was a settler to begin with). But with the triggering of the timed event the unit is teleported.91.49.254.117 18:51, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

Furthermore for the elven diplomat and the outpost liasion the entry in info.whereabouts of the history figure is not changed, when the diplomat or liasion arrives at a player fortress. But for the human diplomat and treasurer that entry is changed. Additionally if the diplomat/treasurer ends up in an army it will always be an army at camp, which is a sub-army of the army with army controller with id=0.91.49.254.117 19:56, 31 May 2026 (UTC)

It turns out that the assigned_army_controller_id of the position assignment, which was 0, was the issue. Changing it to -1 and the diplomats will miraculous appear.91.49.254.117 22:37, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
