Hi! I really appreciate the content you've been adding to pages like hatch cover. Only, please try to keep your additions in our standard format, which you can find in the Dwarf Fortress Wiki:Community Portal. For example, adding new content to a section called "testing" makes sense from a writer's point of view, but would be confusing to a reader new to the game.

Oh, and you can remove single tiles of a stockpile, so if you want stairs leading up to a refuse pile, just remove the stockpile from that one tile. --RomeoFalling 02:06, 11 November 2008 (EST)

Nice fort design page! You might want to use UMkey for the diagrams. --Savok 21:20, 28 November 2008 (EST)

Thanks, but right now I'm too lazy. You're welcome to do it if you like. Gairabad 21:22, 28 November 2008 (EST)

Could post some screenshots of that awesome sounding fort somewhere? --Demaster72 00:59, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Heh, I haven't finished making it yet. That's just the design. I'm still in early spring of the first year. I'll post some screenshots when it's got ~100 dwarves or so. Gairabad 13:31, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Efficient Hauling[edit]

You mention something about making sure that bins have atleast 10 blocks of coke before they're moved to Stockpile #2.
Now, this particular worshiper of Armok is completely clueless as to how you would manage to do that, given the current interface.
--Edward 22:19, 28 November 2008 (EST)

It's completely impossible. Unless, of course, you don't take from the stockpile UNTIL the first stockpile is full. --GreyMaria 22:21, 28 November 2008 (EST)
Stockpile #2 only accepts bins that have at least 10 coke in them. Therefore the bins will not be hauled unless they have at least 10 coke. That's what I think, at least; I confess I haven't actually tried it out. I spend way too much time planning. Gairabad 23:22, 28 November 2008 (EST)
Alright, alright, I gotcha. I just assumed there would be a "min" option along with the "max" one. I'll go ahead and delete that section. Gairabad 23:24, 28 November 2008 (EST)
So I guess this means that hauling the bituminous coal straight-up *does* make sense. Unless you feel like using GreyMaria's technique of waiting for Stockpile #1's bins to fill up. And you'd still need strong haulers. Gairabad 23:30, 28 November 2008 (EST)
The Max options are maximum # of barrels/bins only. they have nothing to do with what's in them. --Edward 02:51, 29 November 2008 (EST)
Darn. Gairabad 13:29, 29 November 2008 (EST)
From what I can tell, dwarves tend to fill each container to maximum before grabbing a new one, depending on how your STORE_DIST settings are set, of course. The default is almost 100% guaranteed to ensure that behavior. --Edward 05:36, 30 November 2008 (EST)
