Pig iron is a component in the manufacture of {{L|steel}}. Since there is no value diffrence between iron and pig iron and since pig iron has no uses that iron doesn't have except for use in steel it's probably best no to make it unless you wish to create steel.

Pig iron bars can be created at a Template:L by a dwarf with the Template:L labor activated.

The recipe for pig iron is: one Template:L Template:L, one Template:L material and one Template:L create one pig iron bar. Note that this fuel is part of the reaction. You will need another item of fuel to power the smelter unless you're using a Template:L.
