A kiln is a specific type of furnace used to create pearlash (for clear and crystal glass) from potash. It requires fuel and uses the Furnace Operator skill.
To build a kiln, you need a dwarf with the architecture labor enabled, and then one (the same or another) with the masonry labor enabled.
