A quern is used to grind up certain plants to make flour, sugar and dye. Unlike a millstone, it does not require a power source, using dwarven labor instead. That said, it is slower to produce the milled product unless the miller is moderately strong.
Milling produces seeds from the plants.
Before you can build the quern workshop, you must first construct a quern ( an item of furniture) at a Mason's workshop with q - q.
It is unknown whether extended use will tire the dwarf using it (see screw pump.)
