Kitfox Games is the publisher of Dwarf Fortress and many other games. Bay 12 Games posted on 2019-03-13 that they joined Kitfox after a medical scare that made them worry about their long-term finances. After joining up, Kitfox hired artists to work on the graphics pack for the Premium release.^[source] On 2022-12-06, Kitfox went on to publish Dwarf Fortress to Itch.io and Steam.
