Hornblende is an unremarkable dark gray stone which can be found almost anywhere.
Horn blend can contain the element radium. This highly radioactive substance is 300 times more reactive than uranium and if found in the right isotope can be used in atomic weapons. Let's thank Amrok that only humans are stupid enough to mess with it. otherwise there would be a lot of fun in dwarf fortress and we would all be keeping two headed chickens popping out eggs that would already be cooked.
