Kapoks are a type of above ground tree. They are found only in tropical forests. Like the overwhelming majority of overland trees, kapok wood is brown and produces brown products.

The wood from this tree is the third lightest type of wood in the game. A smart idea is to make items that need to be hauled alot (like bins and barrels), out of this type of wood, if the other two trees don't grow in your area.
