Kaniwa is an aboveground crop. It is a grain, related to quinoa, that can be used to produce booze and flour, and whose seeds are also edible. Since the whole plant is processed for flour and Kaniwa beer, requiring no additional processing, it is a moderately efficient food source, on par with Longland grass.
