Spirits of Fire are one of the possible creatures that will attack your dwarves if you discover glowing pits in Fortress Mode.

They are the most dangerous of the the three 'lesser' demons. Literally made of fire, they will burn just about anything in arm's reach (even boiling water if it is poured on them), they also shoot fireballs at hapless dwarves. Spirits of fire cannot feel pain or bleed to death, and are immune to traps like all demons. Their only real weakness is that their limbs sever instead of breaking.
