Wikipedia article

Tetrahedrite is an unusual ore. When smelted, it produces a copper bar and has a 20% chance of also producing a silver bar. Can be used to smelt 6 different alloys - trifle pewter, fine pewter, billon, electrum, bronze, and brass.

It has a value modifier of 3, and can appear in any stone layer.

When smelting billon, tetrahedrite counts as both copper and silver ore at the same time and produces two billon bars for one ore; this may be a bug. To exploit this, make sure the tetrahedrite is grabbed first.

It is worth smelting electrum from tetarahedrite and gold nuggets, because this guarantees you'll get the use (and value) of the silver. For example, smelting 5 tetrahedrite and 5 gold nuggets will give 5 gold bars (value 5x150), 5 copper bars (value 5x10) and, on average, 1 silver bar (value 1x50), for a total value of 850, but smelting them to electrum will give 10 electrum bars with a value of 1000, that require less fuel to make, and less work to make into goods.
