This article is about an older version of DF.

Cleaning is a type of Template:L used by dwarves in order to clean tiles. In order for dwarves to use this skill, they must enabled inside the labor's Other Jobs tab, which can be found using either v, choosing the dwarf, then enabling it, or using u, choosing the individual dwarf, pressing c to zoom to his location, and enabling the labor. Cleaning is automatically enabled.

Though your dwarves are able to clean your fortress, they cannot clean anything outside, making it easy for them to track anything inside. However, only blood can be tracked around. Rain is able to clean anything outside, but does not clean the entire map, only cleans squares rain has hit. Most of the time, your dwarves will constantly track in blood, and never clean it up, and also leave mud lying about the fortress if water is within the fortress. [Verify]

Dwarves with the Cleaning skill enabled will also occasionally clean themselves, using whatever they can that can be used to clean themselves with, including water and soap. However, as of ?V0.28.181.40d?, if they attempt to use soap to clean themselves, an error occurs saying "CleanerMcUrist cancels Clean Self: Inaccessible Area". [Verify]
