Flies are vermin that will occur in swarms around your food stockpiles. They will rot your unprotected food (including unpicked farm crops)Verify and they cannot be trapped. All dwarves will be annoyed by their presence, while some outright hate them (and some even like them for their ability to annoy). Unlike most other kinds of vermin, cats can not kill them.
