Welcome to the Dwarf Fortress Wiki! This is a collection of user-submitted guides, information and advice for the Roguelike game "Dwarf Fortress". Dwarf Fortress is a Mac and Windows game (though it can be played on other systems using Wine), developed by Bay 12 Games featuring two modes of play, a distinct, randomly-generated world (complete with terrain, wildlife and legends), gruesome combat mechanics and vicious schools of carp.
"I'm flooding my fortress because I've decided enough is enough. On the plus side, my mist generator is working now." — Doxazo
"Whenever I torture someone [in Adventure Mode], I like to 'slug' them. I remove their ears, nose, teeth, and tongue, and break both of their legs. I call it "slugging" because all they can do is crawl around on the floor and cry. Then I like to follow them around and talk to them about the weather." — paroonshark
