40d:Magma flow

This article is about an older version of DF.

A magma flow is a special type of map tile found at the bottom of a magma pipe. Items dropped onto a magma flow from above will disappear (the same as when dropped into a chasm), but creatures can safely walk on the tiles as long as no magma is present. Magma pipes refill by spawning magma directly above magma flow tiles, however, so they tend not to remain safely walkable for long.

If all of the magma is drained away, the magma flow tiles are supposed to animate and sparkle just like the original magma flow from the earliest versions of Dwarf Fortress, but due to a bug they do not. The following patch for version 0.28.181.40d for Windows fixes this:
