Talk:Building designer
What to do[edit]
This article is in a bit of a weird place. As far as I can tell, there's no longer anything that looks like "architect" or "building designing" at all. Bridges and trade depots are built in a single step, using one of those three skills (mason, carpetry, blacksmith). And buildings seem to no longer have quality or value. There's no way to view it directly, but I kinda checked by putting a trade depot in a temple and there was no increase to the temple's total value.
So with all that, should probably delete the article.
On the otherhand, the lack of quality/value seems to point to a missing feature. Maybe the elimination of the architect skill and the swap-over to mason had some complication, and with the release deadline, Toady just eliminated it all for now? Should probably keep the article if that's the case, might return in the near future. Brightgalrs (talk) 19:09, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
- We shouldn't keep text explaining features missing in v50, the main namespace should match the latest version. So I suggest deleting most text and marking it as an obsolete feature like Notes. If it gets re-added in the future, it's easy to restore the old version. OddballJoe (talk) 07:25, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- Removed page contents. Two things I learned from testing: 1) metal bridges, etc can be built with any one of 4 skills (see article). 2) Building quality is still definitely a thing: a temple with an archery target had a value of 9 higher when the target was built by a proficient mason vs. a dabbling one.
