Specialized vs unspecialized when assigned to workshop[edit]
I marked the cell ["The dwarf is assigned to the workshop or occupation giving this job" / Unspecialized] as blank, but Putnam changed it to green. That doesn't match my testing.
Figure I'll just share my test notes here, I'll add to it if there's other disagreements. If a job is not permitted to be assigned to a dwarf via the labors system, they will still take a job in an assigned workshop only if they are specialized based on my testing. I'll change the cell back for now, but let's get consensus here if there's still disagreement. OddballJoe (talk) 20:59, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Red vs blank squares in labor table[edit]
Putnam, you changed the blank squares to red "No" squares. My thinking in leaving them blank was to make the top statement about "any condition" more obvious; I think if people see that both a "No" and a "Yes" condition are satisfied, it'll be harder to interpret than if they see a "Yes" condition and a blank condition satisfied. Do you disagree? OddballJoe (talk) 21:06, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
"Pickup equipment" and "store own item" jobs[edit]
Since both of the tasks ("pickup equipment" and "store own item") are not really jobs (and thus not associated with a labor). I will put this info concerning these two tasks here.
1. A pickup equipment job (at least for picking up new clothing) will only be done after the current job (performed by the dwarf) is finished. For jobs involving designations (at least with default priority of 4 or higher) a job is not considered finished as long as the dwarf can and does, after finishing working on a tile, immediatly pick another tile of the same desingation type (with the same priority). Meaning if there is enough work for a dwarf, so that the dwarf works uninterrupted until either sleeping, drinking or eating (and no higher priority job comes up before), then the clothes will be dumped on the tile where the dwarf slept, drink or eat - as sleeping, eating and drinking have a higher priority than picking up new clothes. For hauling and workshop related jobs a job is considered finished, whenever a single "task" of that type is finished or the hauling is completed.
2. A priority of 3 job involving designations means that dwarf will not store owned items after picking up equipment, but leave the owned clothes until they either become unowned or the dwarf no longer has to perform a job of priority 3 or higher. Note that workshop jobs priotized by clicking the exclamation mark symbol is considered a job with a priority higher than 3.91.49.254.117 14:33, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
