Troglodytes are common creatures that live in underground chasms and caves in tribes of 5 to 10. Being the size of a dwarf, they are not very dangerous to miners or trained military dwarves. Given the chance, however, they will threaten civilian dwarves, interrupting their work and chasing single dwarves.
