This article is about an older version of DF. |
Unlike regular bronze or bismuth bronze, black bronze cannot be used to create weapons or armor, so it is strictly for arts and crafts, statues, furniture and the like. Black bronze cannot be smelted directly from ore, but only from bars of pure metals. The value of a bar of black bronze is equal to the average value of its components - creating this alloy does not increase the total value of the material, unlike some alloys. (2 copper bars at 2☼ each + 1 silver bar at 10☼ + 1 gold bar at 30☼ = 44☼/4 bars = 11☼/bar of black bronze.)
used silver
temperature values unknown, used copper
also called shakudo or hepatizon depending on the proportions (some have no silver)
got the name from black corinthian bronze, though these proportions are more like regular corinthian bronze/brass
I just wanted the liver-colored one, dropped "corinthian" because it sounds too location/culture specific
value of 11 is the weighted average value of 2copper/1silver/1gold components
