The Fishery allows you to process raw fish into prepared fish, that can be used for eating, cooking or baiting animal traps, extract items from the fish, and capture live fish until needed later or as a pet. Currently fish extracts have little use.
Caught fish will first be moved to your food stockpile where, oddly enough, it doesn't decay (or at least at a much slower rate than in any other place). The Fishery does not automatically prepare the fish.
