Muskoxen are available as domestic animals on embark and may also accompany your dwarves to your fortress as wagon haulers. They may occasionally be found in the wild in Adventure Mode, where they are mildly belligerent and rather dangerous, capable of shattering bones in a single hit. Elves use them as transport animals.
