The feather tree is a special tree that grows only in good aligned areas. Unlike other above ground trees, it yields cream colored logs when cut down.
It is also the lightest wood in the game, so it should be used for things that get hauled around very frequently, as as bins, barrels and buckets. this increases dwarf speed as they are carrying less weight. Featherwood is extremely useless for siege engine ammunition. It is often recommended to make featherwood crossbows for the fortress guard. Guards will shoot at goblins with the same efficiency they would with metal ones, but they will bash criminals with the butt of their feather-light weapons, rendering justice-administered beatings significantly less lethal.
Beware the unicorns that roam around it, or simply import it from Elven caravans.
