v0.31:Desert
This article is about an older version of DF. |
A Desert is a very dry Template:L. Deserts can be found in all Template:Ls, but are mostly common to very hot areas. Very few Template:Ls and plants are able to grow in this barren lands. Camels are very common to this kind of biome and provide an excellent Template:L source (whether Template:L or Template:L humps). Template:L can also be found in deserts.
Template:L make building a fortress on a desert a whole lot easier.
Types of Desert
Desert is the umbrella term for the three types of deserts you will find in Dwarf Fortress. The three types of deserts you will find are:
Badlands
Badlands are Template:Ls that have Template:L but very little rainfall, and so have very little to offer in the way of plantlife, both shrubs and trees. They are mostly Template:L or Template:L but can also have another Template:L.
Rocky wastelands
Rocky wastelands are arid, barren areas rich in Template:L. It may be difficult to find Template:L or an above ground water source. Additionally trees and other plant life is usually scarce at best in these areas. Thus trees should be grown on subterranean tree farms.
Sand desert
Sand deserts are large and dry areas of Template:L. They can be difficult for a beginning player to found a Template:L in, due to the fact that there are usually few Template:Ls and Template:Ls to be found and it may require digging several Template:L deep before any Template:L is found.
Deserts are most likely to be Template:L or Template:L, but may be Template:L or Template:L as well. They are always arid, so Template:L deserts may only have flowing water for a few months of the year, and Template:L ones might have rivers that evaporate during the summer months.
Wildlife
In neutral deserts appear:
In savage deserts also appear:
