Almandines are semi-precious gems found in metamorphic, diorite, and gabbro stone layers.
In real life[edit]
Almandines are reddish gems from the garnet group (which also includes pyrope, spessartine, and grossular) of a (usually dark) red variety. The name comes from the ancient town of Alabanda, Asia minor, famous for its gemstones.
