Moss turns the tile it is on green. It is unknown whether dwarves will clean up moss, or whether traffic will destroy it like grass.

Many dwarf scientist have spectulated that the so called "moss" is actually beards that fall off the dwarves once they get older and lose thier hair. The many dwarven parasites that live in the berad, feasting off the dwarfs spilt food and drinks, eventually die of starvation and rot, turning the beard green.
