The Hammerer is a noble which is supposed to arrive with the {{L|Baron}} - in version 0.31, however, bugs apparently prevent the arrival of any immigrant nobles. If your {{L|sheriff}} is busy, your {{L|jail}} is full, or a particularly heinous crime is comitted, the hammerer will deliver a series of hammerstrikes, most likely leading to death or serious injury for the criminal (most often a random metalsmith who couldn't satisfy a noble's {{L|mandate}} for {{L|slade}} earrings).

It is recommended that you either injure your Hammerer to the point where he can't dispense his vigilante brand of Dwarven Justice, replace his hammer with a almost-harmless {{L|adamantine}} one, or trap him in a room and dump food down a hole for him to eat. Killing your Hammerer outright will likely lead to another one arriving later{{Verify}}.

This article is about an older version of DF.

The Hammerer is a noble which is supposed to be appointed by the Baron to act as an executioner. Due to a bug, however, this never happens.

Depending on the severity of a particular crime (or the personal whims of the injured party), the hammerer would deliver a series of hammerstrikes, most likely leading to death or serious injury for the criminal (most often a random metalsmith who couldn't satisfy a noble's mandate for crystal glass earrings).
