This article is about an older version of DF. |
Fisherdwarves is the skill associated with the fishing Template:L. Fisherdwarves catch Template:L from available Template:L sources: ponds, Template:Ls, Template:Ls, Template:Ls and the Template:L. The higher the fisherdwarf skill, the faster they catch fish. Unfortunately they also deplete the stocks of fish in the water faster.
Fisherdwarves will fish from any water by default. Change this using the standing orders screen, o-z-f to toggle between 'prefer fishing zones' (the default) and 'zone-only fishing', which will prevent dwarves from fishing outside of designated areas. This can be useful, for instance, if you have a crocodile infested river, or a Terrifying ocean, and don't want your fishers wandering into danger.
To set up fishing zones, designate a Template:L(i) as usual, overlapping water and shore. You can only set the zone to be used for fishing if there is some fish-bearing water inside.
