These sickening-looking trees grow only in the deepest caverns, and have the dubious distinction of being the most dense Template:L in Dwarf Fortress, with the Template:L ranking in second place. Blood thorns are approximately half as dense as most stones.
They are also unique in that they Template:L crimson Template:L, which can be made into (heavy) crimson wood products, ideally Template:L bolts. Curiously, trampled young blood thorns are purple rather than dark gray, possibly due to all the blood stains on it.
