Standing orders that apply to the whole fortress can be accessed with o
- i Civilians or all dwarves can be ordered to stay indoors, which can save lives in a siege.
- x adjusts the level of job cancellation announcements that are shown
- a toggles whether dwarves will move caged animals to a stockpile
- f toggles whether dwarves will move food to a stockpile
- u toggles whether dwarves will move furniture to a stockpile
- g toggles whether dwarves will move dead dwarves to a stockpile
- r sets refuse orders
- s toggles whether dwarves will move stone to a stockpile
- w toggles whether dwarves will move wood to a stockpile
- h toggles who will harvest plants from farm plots - if set to "Dwarves All Harvest", all dwarves will participate, including nobles and children.
- m toggles whether different types of food can be put in one barrel at a stockpile
- W sets workshop orders
Refuse orders[edit]
Dwarves can do different things with different types of refuse.
- r toggles whether dwarves will collect refuse at all.
- o toggles whether dwarves will collect refuse from outside, beneficial if you use your military to kill wild animals outside your fortress (or if your hunters kill creatures other than their targets).
- c toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm corpses and body parts
- l toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm skulls
- b toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm bones
- s toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm shells
- i toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm skins
- k toggles whether dwarves will save or chasm other types of refuse (chunks, rotten food, and worn out items).
Workshop orders[edit]
Many workshops will generate tasks automatically, from this menu you can turn that off for selected workshops.
- l sets automation options on looms - all thread, dyed thread only, or nothing.
- d toggles whether clothes maker's shops will be allowed to use undyed cloth.
- w toggles whether or not looms will automatically generate "Collect Webs" jobs.
- s toggles whether dwarves will automatically slaughter designated creatures. Note that this job cannot be added manually.
- b toggles whether dwarves will automatically butcher nearby corpses of wild animals.
- t toggles whether dwarves will automatically tan the hides of butchered creatures into leather.
