Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
You have struck an ore for brass-making.

Sphalerite is an ore of zinc. It cannot be smelted on its own, but must be combined with malachite in order to make brass. Strange moods may occasionally use chunks of sphalerite as secondary ingredients, resulting in artifacts decorated with zinc.

Each embark region contains 12 veins of sphalerite, scattered throughout the mountainside.
