This article is about an older version of DF.
A small creature found in both salt and fresh water that lives in an asymmetrical shell rooted to the bottom.
Admired for its beauty.

Mussels are a source of food for fortresses located near any body of water, except murky pools. They are also one of the few types of creatures, along with oysters, cave lobsters and turtles, that are sources of shells. They can't be butchered, but can be cleaned at a fishery, which generates a shell and a prepared mussel, or cooked live as a raw mussel, which loses the shell.
