Limestone has a benefit over other Sedimentary rocks in that it is also a flux material. It is also the only sedimentary layer to contain either of galena or malachite.
As a rule, limestone tends to be more profitable in terms of ores and gems than the average layer stone, which make it ideal for exploratory mining.
"Limestone" is also the name of the seventh month of the dwarven calendar, covering early Fall.
