Welcome to the Dwarf Fortress Wiki. This is a collection of user-submitted guides, information and advice for the Roguelike game "Dwarf Fortress". Dwarf Fortress is a Mac and Windows game (though it can be played on other systems using Wine), developed by Bay 12 Games featuring two modes of play, a distinct, randomly-generated world (complete with terrain, wildlife and legends), gruesome combat mechanics and vicious schools of carp.
I had a number of long-term residents, but then a visiting poet turned into a werepanther and ate everybody. Such is life.
You monster! Killing too many children at once will make everyone sad. You need to kill them slowly so nobody notices.
The latest version is v50.14, released on September 25, 2024.
