I don't think I've gotten everything, though. I have a hunch that artifacts are named with symbols if they're a murder artifact, and I have basically no data on artforms other than "they exist". Count of words[edit]

I count 2196 as of today. Just what the article says! Jerimee (talk) 20:38, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

1736 nouns in my list, not 1738, probably a snafu on my part Jerimee (talk) 23:46, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

List was/is missing SUMMER, SING ("Song"), and MIGHTINESS. "Might" is english noun version of [WORD:MIGHTY]. "Mightiness" is english noun version of [WORD:MIGHTINESS]. --Jerimee (talk) 01:05, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

The names of the languages[edit]

I propose naming the languages after their respective word for "language".

Neat! Jerimee (talk) 01:02, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Morphology[edit]

The lack of cognates makes it easier to infer from context the meaning of compound words. A vocabulary set with morphological etymology would be poorly suited to agglutinative compound word building, as similar meaning words would also sound similar.

For example, Lanlarbal means "bird tone" and Lanlarbål means "bird growth." If Bal and Bål were similar meaning words, the compounds Lanlarbal and Lanlarbål could easily be misheard or confused. Bal and Bål are unlikely to be used together in a given context, allowing one to infer which word was used. Jerimee (talk) 01:02, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Separate vocab[edit]

The vocabulary section should really be moved to a separate page so that this article is readable. "Data dump" pages should be kept separate from informational pages, imo. —OddballJoe (talk) 18:59, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

Yup - the noun table by itself is unwieldy and slow loading. Jerimee (talk) 00:02, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
I went ahead and finished someone's fine work, making verbs and adjectives collapsible tables. I was about to move this page, as I saw a note somewhere else to do it. I'm assuming that this is now no longer desired? It certainly looks much more readable to me (assuming collapsible tables are working for everyone else). Alpacalypse (talk) 00:07, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Just to add: I didn't have a word-count to go by, so I just put "second" and "third" ...'largest word count' as the table heading text. I think the word count looks way cooler, if either of you have that information to hand. Alpacalypse (talk) 01:10, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

Expanded vocabulary in the Steam release[edit]

Hello, I've been noticing that a lot of words can't be found in this list, and many have meanings that are different from those listed here. Maybe these changed for the premium release? If so, what would be the best way to go about it? I was thinking of adding the ones I come across, but it feels like it would be best to data mine them from the game itself.

--Brocolie (talk) 21:07, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

really? I haven't noticed that. Can you give some examples? Jerimee (talk) 23:19, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
oh... it turns out that my issue was that searching the page with ctrl+f didn't find the words because they were nouns that were hidden/collapsed, so the search didn't find them. I only just noticed it was always the nouns that I wasn't finding >< --Brocolie (talk) 02:07, 1 March 2023 (UTC)

Vocabulary comparison tables[edit]

Make (the longer ones?) of these collapsible, as was done with nouns/verbs/adjectives? --Alpacalypse (talk) 18:54, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

Symbols[edit]

I updated the pages for each symbol with sphere and entity linkages. I did so by making a mod with an entirely custom language set, consisting of words (ie: "Artifice1","Artifice7") only present in one symbol, and making a dummy megabeast for each sphere.

I don't think I've gotten everything, though. I have a hunch that artifacts are named with symbols if they're a murder artifact, and I have basically no data on artforms other than "they exist". The "poetic narrative" form uses THOUGHT (ie: "The Learned Scholars") , apparently, but that's only something I can say with any certainty because I'm so sure of the FLOWERY link.

If anyone has any data on the hardcoded naming process, I'd love to hear new findings.
