Changes in recent DF versions

General issues

• Address all red links in Template:V50_menus
• Improve all related pages towards superior quality

Specifics

• Menu - Page needs updating with current info and consistency with Menu tabs and related Template
• Justice - Needs updating to reference new menus, all links are currently < Alpacalypse (talk) 19:19, 10 March 2023 (UTC) > or practically) red, in the context of v50 menus.

Changes to terminology

• Update wiki for clarity and accuracy regarding terms that have taken on new meanings recently.

Specifics

• Symbol - Mostly completed up to fine level, but needs better linking/references to existing wiki pages, and editing of those pages where relevant to recent changes.

• Custom Symbols - Page created, but probably needs some better page and link structure/reorganisation.

• What to do with "Custom symbols" section of Custom names and symbols? Add to a new Names and symbols page? Make it's own page similar to Fortress name? (see "Name" below)

• Object (Objects talk) - New pages and a lot of small, but significant edits to existing pages (such as "Item") needed to avoid confusion or add clarity to different uses of words and features relating to Object and Objects.
• Name - This is can lead down quite a rabbit hole, the following is just off the top of my head:

• Complicated by there already being a very comprehensive name page, which only deals with generated character names.
• A Fortress Name page (ditto).
• The newly created Custom names and symbols page, which contains 90% of the information on Fortress name.
• Lack of documentation or references to any other generated or custom names:

• Seemingly undocumented custom group names (and symbols).
• Difference between a custom symbol (descriptive) and a custom symbol (badge of office), both of which can have unique and custom titles.
• Paucity of references to all other generated names: e.g. sites, artifacts, history generated non-entity related creatures.

• Terminology between all of this: e.g. name/title/description.

Don't delete talk page discussions, please

As you suspected, this edit is not very good form. Talk pages are like a forum; if there's a misunderstanding, clarify it and move on. There's no need to clean up past discussions and deleting other people's comments is generally frowned upon. See here for general talk page ettiquette. The comment you replaced the discussion with is also a bit unclear now; if you think there's an issue with the version template, it's better to demonstrate how to reproduce the bug so that someone can try to fix it. —OddballJoe (talk) 19:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Gotcha. Now you mention it, I shouldn't have needed to be told not to delete someone else's comment. I was really just thinking about how much needless clutter I'd added to the discussion. Thanks for the clarification. Alpacalypse (talk) 19:12, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Good tip, and now I have a handy reference for the tag usage too, thanks. Also, I appreciate you having a look at that terminology discussion and giving some feedback.
